GREAT WHITE NIGHTCLUB FIRE: STATION NIGHTCLUB OWNER DISCIPLINED IN PRISON

The Associated Press reports:

An owner of The Station nightclub serving time in prison for a fire [at a GREAT WHITE concert] that killed 100 people has been disciplined for violating corrections department policy, officials said Tuesday.

Michael Derderian was sentenced in September to four years in minimum security at the state prison in Cranston after pleading no contest to involuntary manslaughter charges.

He was sanctioned last week for having an unauthorized visit from a 'personal acquaintance' at the Warwick auto body shop where he had been serving his work-release assignment, said corrections department director A.T. Wall.

Wall declined to say who visited Derderian, but said it was not a family member. He said Derderian then lied about 'several pieces of information' when questioned about the visit by corrections department investigators.
