GUITARIST ROB ARNOLD ON THE 'RESURRECTION' OF CHIMAIRA

Guitarist Rob Arnold of Cleveland metallers CHIMAIRA recently took time out from his busy touring schedule with DIVINE HERESY, TERROR and KATAKLYSM to sit down with MetalSucks to discuss what fans can expect on the band's current tour, their newest album, 'Resurrection', and their recently cancelled European trek. An excerpt from the chat follows:

MetalSucks: You guys have actually spoken pretty openly about a lot of the problems you've had on the last couple of tours, and especially on the tour right after the self-titled album came out. Do you feel like you've worked past those problems now? Do you feel like the 'resurrection' of CHIMAIRA is continuing?

Arnold: Absolutely. Absolutely. Yeah. This particular break was due purely to exhaustion, whereas with the self-titled tour, there was just a lot of animosity with guys not getting along with Kevin [Talley, drums] and feeling betrayed by the label [Roadrunner], if you will, and things like that, so it was just a general sense of, just, 'Fuck this.' Whereas this little break wasn't like that at all, it was just about taking a little time off.

MetalSucks: This album is being really well received, it seems like. We saw you guys in New Jersey a few months ago on Sounds of the Underground, and the crowd had been dead all day, and then you guys came on and suddenly it was like — Vince got hit in the face within fifteen seconds, people were just going nuts.

Arnold: Sorry about that (laughs).

MetalSucks: So do you feel still feel really enthusiastic about this record?

Arnold: Yeah. Y'know, I think people like it and stuff, and that's cool. And really, y'know, you start out doing a lot of support tours like [Sounds of the Underground] to put in the ground work, and then you get to do a tour like this where you come and headline — we haven't headlined since the self-titled record, y'know, 'cause we've been doing a lot of supporting tours, so you come out here and do a headlining tour to kind of gauge the success, to see if the work you've done supporting is gonna pay off or not, and whether you want to continue to headline, or go back to the drawing board and start supporting again or make a new record again and everything, so it's kind of this month coming up that will really give us an indication of, y'know, if what we've done has been paying off.

MetalSucks: So something else we gotta ask you: the song 'Six'. We think that song's a fuckin' masterpiece, it's just a monster. Why the hell is it called 'Six'?

Arnold: I can't tell you that.

MetalSucks: C'mon, dude!

Arnold: It's not that I don't want to do tell you, but I have no idea. I have no idea. It's the kind of thing where maybe I asked Mark [Hunter, CHIMAIRA vocalist] once, like 'Six? What does that mean?' And he was just, like, [makes a dismissive farting noise], or something, I don't know. I honestly don't know.

INCANTATION MAINMAN COMMENTS ON RUSSIAN TOUR

INCANTATION mainman John McEntee has issued the following update:

'We just got back from the Flaming Arts Fest Tour 2007. This was our first time ever performing in Russia. We played along side are long time friends in VADER, KRISIUN, ROTTING CHRIST along with some cool guys from the bands AMENTI and RIUL DOAMNEI.

'I must admit I didn't know a lot about the Russian death metal scene before the tour, but I have to say it was over the top! We packed venues every night! The crowds were totally sick some if the craziest we have played for.

'We were pretty busy traveling most of the time, but we did get time to visit Red Square. That was really cool, growing up in the time of the Cold War it was amazing to get to visit and have some great gigs in a country that was once unheard of for a American band to visit. Also at the Moscow show I did an interview for the biggest metal video TV show in Russia. So that was a great honor.

'On the Flaming Arts Festivals we also played our first time in Belarus. That was a phenomenal gig! The show was by far sold out and the death bangers were totally sick. After the show we did a interview for the legendary Minsk radio show metal 'Massa Brutto'. Alex, the host, was a really cool guy — a true metal warrior.

'I want to thank Massive Music and Flaming Arts Productions along with everyone that made the fest tour happen. We are also honored to have gotten the opportunity to play for all our new and old school Russian fans alike, we look forward to returning again sometime. Next time with a headlining set.'

The MetalList webzine recently posted video footage of INCANTATION performing at the Moscow Metal Fest on September 22, 2007 at Tochka Club in Moscow, Russia. Watch the clip below.

INCANTATION's current touring lineup consists of:

John McEntree – Guitar/Vocals
Rayash (SUPREME LORD) - Bass
Craig Smilowski (GOREAPHOBIA, IMMOLATION) - Drums

KISS MEMBERS THAYER AND SINGER DISCUSS RECENTLY COMPLETED 'HIT N' RUN' TOUR

The Kiss Underground has conducted interviews with KISS drummer Eric Singer and guitarist Tommy Thayer about the group's recently completed Hit N' Run tour.

On the topic of preparing for the shows, Thayer said, 'You know, it's really not that different as far as preparation goes. You have to be equally ready to go out and do one show or 100. I prefer doing full length tours. I was talking to Eric after we did the short run, and he said that it's too bad we have to stop after just doing several shows as opposed to more, because it takes a few shows for the band to really get warmed up and in a groove, and I agreed.'

Singer added, 'It is what it is.... As the saying goes… We all know the material so it is not that hard to get ready for a show. Not easy either since KISS shows are a lot of preparation and hard work. Everyone has other obligations and hopefully there will be a full length tour in the future.'

CYCLONE'S 'BRUTAL DESTRUCTION' TO RECEIVE CD RELEASE

Metal Mind Productions will issue a remastered edition of one of the most intriguing releases in the history of Belgian thrash metal scene: 'Brutal Destruction' by CYCLONE. Due in Europe on August 27 (October 22 in the U.S. via MVD), it is the first time the LP has been made available on CD, featuring eight crushing tracks that showcase the band's impressive skills and brilliant songwriting. The CD will be made available in a new digipack edition on golden disc, digitally remastered using 24-bit technology, and limited to a hand-numbered 2,000 copies.

As previously reported, the 1985 'In the Grip of Evil' demo cassette by CYCLONE has been made available for download at the Bang! Bang! metal demo blog.

According to the blog post, 'This three-song gem bears plenty of resemblance to RAZOR and 'Show No Mercy'-era SLAYER, and landed the band a deal with Roadrunner Records, who released CYCLONE's speed metal cult classic 'Brutal Destruction' the following year.

'At some point the band befriended a young Christian Olde Wolbers (FEAR FACTORY guitarist who once toured in KORN) and taught him the ways of well-brewed Belgian metal. 'The guys who taught me were the guys from CYCLONE,' he told Lords of Metal. 'Those guys were from an older generation then I was. They where THE band from Belgium, you know.''

Bang! Bang!, the weblog of Ian Christe (author of 'Sound of the Beast' and host on Sirius Satellite Radio's Hard Attack), is dedicated to 'celebrating the tradition of freely-traded heavy metal demo cassettes and preserving the pioneer spirit of the underground, one magnetic particle at a time.'

ABBATH SAYS IMMORTAL FANS FORCED CRADLE OF FILTH TO PLAY ABBREVIATED SET AT METALCAMP

IMMORTAL frontman Abbath has told the Norwegian newspaper Bergens Tidende that the group's rabid fan base forced CRADLE OF FILTH to play an abbreviated set at Slovenia's Metalcamp festival late last month by constantly screaming for the Norwegian black metal legends to take the stage.

Asked by Bergens Tidende to name the highlight of IMMORTAL's reunion tour so far, Abbath said, 'It was fucking great last weekend at Metalcamp in Slovenia. The audience was totally wild. They were clearly our fans; they screamed 'Immortal!' in between the other bands' songs. CRADLE OF FILTH walked off stage because they [the audience] screamed for IMMORTAL. They played a couple of songs and walked off stage pissed off. That's one of the funniest things I've ever seen!'

The organizers of this year's Metalcamp festival, which took place July 16-21, 2007 in Tolmin, Slovenia, last week released a statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET regarding the rumors that CRADLE OF FILTH frontman Dani Filth was 'arrested' following his band's performance at the event.

According to a report posted on the Romanian web site Metalhead.ro, Dani, 'in a state of advanced drunkenness,' grabbed several portable fans (the kind used to control ventilation) from the stage and threw them at the security guards and the audience, which caused the crowd to start booing him. As a result the group's concert was cut short by 'four songs' and the band 'quietly' left the stage.

The following statement from Metalcamp representative Ana Lipec was released to BLABBERMOUTH.NET on July 24:

'Since the CRADLE OF FILTH performance was shortened [by] just a couple of songs, we didn't go out with any official statement. However, some rumors have begun [to spread] and it is time to tell the truth.

'CRADLE OF FILTH arrived to Tolmin on Thursday evening [July 19], one day before their performance. Since we, Master of Metal (Metalcamp promoters), are good friends with Dani and the crew, it was a very happy reunion. Everyone was in a very good mood as the atmosphere at Metalcamp festival area is really frendly and relaxed.

'The next day CRADLE OF FILTH started with the usual festival duties such as interviews and press conferences and photo sessions, and, of course, performed the main stage at Metalcamp festival. I guess the best explanation is that Dani just had a bad moment and was not in the best mood. However, it was never his intention to act against his fans or Metalcamp festival. Later on he explained that the [group's set] was shortened [by] three songs because of bad communication with his sound guys on the stage. Any rumors about Dani being taken to jail are far from truth. We parted ways [with Dani and the rest of CRADLE OF FILTH] in a friendly manner, as always.'

MOTLEY CRUE bassist Nikki Sixx has posted another song from his his new band SIXX: A.M., entitled 'Pray for Me', on his MySpace page.

SIXX: A.M. — which also features James Michael and DJ Ashba (ex-BEAUTIFUL CREATURES) — made its live debut on July 16 following a press conference to promote his new book and accompanying soundtrack, 'The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star'. Highlights from the press conference can be seen at this location.

As previously reported, an EPK (Electronic Press Kit) for 'The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star' can be accessed at this location. It includes the official press release, new band photos, a 32-page downloadable excerpt from the book, the 'Life Is Beautiful' video and video highlights from the press conference all in one.

Due September 18 via MTV/VH1 Pocket Books, a division of Simon & Schuster, 'The Heroin Diaries' offers an unflinching and utterly gripping look at Sixx's descent into drug addiction with a soundtrack, featuring James Michael and DJ Ashba (ex-BEAUTIFUL CREATURES), to match. The book is a tell-all, drawn from Nikki's 1986 and '87 journals.

Sixx found the diaries in storage and spent years compiling them for the book. He said he sees them more as a commentary on the record business than as a portrait of a lurid rock 'n' roll lifestyle.

The album will be released by Eleven/Seven Music and distributed by ADA, with a portion of proceeds donated to Nikki's Running Wild in the Night, a fundraising initiative for Covenant House.

REPORT: VELVET REVOLVER ROCKERS ENJOY SUCCESS, SOBERLY

Dean Goodman of Reuters reports: When a band sells 3 million copies of its first album, its members might expect to celebrate with a few drinks.

In the case of VELVET REVOLVER, which comprises three well-heeled veterans of rock 'n' roll bad boys GUNS N' ROSES, the contents of a medium-sized distillery should suffice.

But alas, most of the members of VELVET REVOLVER are now family men who no longer touch alcohol. The eerily lucid quintet has just released its second album, 'Libertad', a follow-up to 2004's Grammy-winning 'Contraband'.

'I haven't had a drink in 11 months,' says guitarist Slash, a star graduate of the Keith Richards school of bad behavior.

'Or anything else for that matter,' he added in a recent interview with Reuters, puffing on an endless string of Gitanes. 'Yeah, it's pretty much cigarettes at this point. Cigarettes and sex.'

Sex with his wife, mind you. Groupies are old news. 'I just ended up with one girl who was exciting enough to make me give all that up.'

CANNIBAL CORPSE: ICELAND VIDEO INTERVIEW, CONCERT FOOTAGE AVAILABLE

CANNIBAL CORPSE bassist Alex Webster was interviewed last weekend for the web TV show 'Sleepless in Reykjavík' about the two concerts the band played in Iceland. Watch the 11-minute report — which includes footage of CANNIBAL CORPSE performing in Reykjavík — at YouTube.

To celebrate Metal Blade's 25th anniversary, the label reissued CANNIBAL CORPSE's 1996 fifth studio album — the first to feature current vocalist George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher'Vile', with an additional four-track DVD filmed at San Francisco's Berkeley Square on February 3, 1997. The CD features a 12-page booklet and completely revised artwork.

CANNIBAL CORPSE's video for the song 'Death Walking Terror' has been posted online at YouTube.com. The track comes off 'Kill', the band's 10th studio LP, which came out in March 2006. The album debuted at No. 170 on The Billboard 200 chart, selling more than 6,000 copies in its first week. It was the second time in the band's career that one of its albums breached the mostly pop-friendly list; in 1996, 'Vile' opened at No. 151, with more than 6,100 copies sold.

KALMAH TO ENTER STUDIO IN OCTOBER

Finnish metallers KALMAH are currently writing material for their fifth studio album, tentatively due next spring. 'Right now we have about seven songs ready and will enter studios in October to record the next swamp metal masterpiece. I guess the new material will represent heavier and even more riff-oriented KALMAH but the melodies and basic KALMAH sound has not been forgotten. The writing process has been firm and there has been no 'run-and-piss' hurry. There was a compulsory month break in the beginning of summer since Antti [Kokko, guitar] broke his wrist. The wrist has shaped up well and it seems there will be no permanent injury.'

KALMAH's latest CD, 'The Black Waltz', entered the Finnish national album chart in March 2006 at position No. 38.

The follow-up to 2003's 'Swampsong', 'The Black Waltz' marked the group's recording debut with keyboardist Marco Sneck (POISONBLACK).

DELAIN: 'SEE ME IN SHADOW' VIDEO POSTED ONLINE

DELAIN — the Dutch gothic rock project founded by ex-WITHIN TEMPTATION keyboardist Martijn Westerholt (brother of WITHIN TEMPTATION's Robert Westerholt) — has posted its video for the track 'See Me in Shadow' on YouTube. The song is the second single from DELAIN's debut album, 'Lucidity', which came out last year. The clip for 'See Me in Shadow' was shot on May 8 'in a very special country cottage in Brabant, Holland,' according to a posting on the group's web site.

DELAIN's video for its first single, 'Frozen', has been posted at this location. The track comes off 'Lucidity', which last year climbed from position No. 76 to No. 43 on the Dutch album chart. In addition to Martijn Westerholt and Charlotte Wessels (vocals), the CD features guest appearances by the following musicians:

Jan Yrlund (ex-LACRIMOSA) - Guitars
Arien van Weesenbeek (GOD DETHRONED) - Drums
Ad Sluijter (EPICA)
George Oosterhoek (ex-ORPHANAGE)
Guus Eikens (ex-ORPHANAGE)
Sharon Den Adel (WITHIN TEMPTATION)
Marco Hietala (NIGHTWISH)
Liv Kristine (LEAVES' EYES)

'Lucidity' contains some interesting duets: Liv Kristine sings with Marco Hietala on 'Day For Ghosts' and with Charlotte on 'See Me In Shadow'. Sharon den Adel's distinctive voice is a great counterpart to Marco's intense vocals on 'No Compliance', whereas the heavy grunts of George Oosthoek combine very well with Charlotte's peaceful voice on a number of other tracks.

KITTIE FEATURED ON THIS WEEKEND'S 'REBEL ACCESS' TV

Canadian all-girl metal band KITTIE will be the featured band on this Sunday's (June 24) 'Rebel Access' TV, which airs at 10:00 p.m. on Channel 19 all over the Chicagoland area. The program will include an exclusive interview with drummer Mercedes Lander and guitarist Tara McLeod, along with concert performance footage shot at the The Pearl Room in Mokena, Illinois.

In the interview, Mercedes goes into detail about how she began playing the piano at age 6 and continued for several years until she 'noticed' Alex Van Halen. Having her older sister Morgan at 14 playing alongside on guitar motivated Mercedes to practice. 'And it helped that we both sucked,' she explains. 'So what [if] I can't do this and you can't do that; let's keep trying anyways.

'We wanted to pick a name that was totally contradictory to the sound of the band, so KITTIE sounded like the perfect name when we were that age.'

During the interview Mercedes describes growing up in front of an audience both musically and also as a woman. 'We just grew up with our instruments and this album is the coming of that.'

Mercedes' advice to the younger musicians just starting out is, 'It helps to have a motivational partner, then find [other] people who are committed. There are a lot of fickle musicians out there. Then play, just play — doesn't matter where, when, who or how, just play cause practice makes perfect.'

'Rebel Access' features a band one week and plays the hardest 'in-your-face' music videos in Chicago the next week.

KING DIAMOND SAYS NEW ALBUM BLOWS 'THE PUPPET MASTER' AWAY

EvilG of Metal-Rules.com recently conducted an interview with King Diamond. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:

Metal-Rules.com: Let me just start out by saying that the new album ['Give Me Your Soul ... Please'], I only got the promo from Metal Blade on Friday, and I've been spinning it all weekend and I love it...

King: 'All right, cool!'

Metal-Rules.com: ...and I think it ranks up there as one of your best actually. Not that I didn't like your other albums but I think there's something special about it, it grabs you on the first listen. I was wondering if you could tell me a little about the writing process you went through for the album, was it anything different this time or have you pretty much nailed down a routine for when you're writing songs and recording?

King: 'Well, it is kind of a routine in some way you know, but still this time it was very unique I can tell you. We in the band feel that, even Andy [LaRocque; guitar] and I, taking everything we've done into consideration, that this is by far our absolute best ever. I know that it takes a lot in a fan's mind to get up to the level of 'Abigail', but I think this blows 'Abigail' away, in my opinion, but that's my own taste, people have different tastes you know. 'The Puppet Master', last time, a lot of fans had that opinion that it was up there with 'Abigail', that was a really good feeling. This one blows 'The Puppet Master' totally away, I think, in all aspects. I mean, that's the way it was this time around, it's the same procedure of writing and recording and mixing and all this stuff, but still did something different, and several things actually turned out to be different, and it was like a strange feeling in the band of all the little pieces of the puzzle falling into the right places this time. The best way to describe it is that it feels, for the band, as if we tried for 20-plus years to get a driver's license, never passed the test. This time, we see the license in our hand. That's how we feel. The sound that is on this album should've been on all the other albums, it is so clear that you can hear every little nuance in the vocal, every emotion in the vocal. The bass guitar, you can hear every note Hal is playing. Normally these days, maybe because there is so much compression normally on albums, it's very hard to pick out what note the bass guitar is actually playing. And with this kind of music that we do, there is sometimes eight backing vocals going, that all need their little space in the soundpage, plus maybe a harpsichord or a church organ or whatever you know. So it becomes essential. We wanted to do it but never really dared to do it, and we did it this time, was say 'hey you know what, forget the industry standard of compressing so hard everything, we'll compress less this time and we'll get a much bigger clarity of how you hear everything, and it'll fit our music better.' There's a lot of other bands where that hard compression does fit them very well, but for our kind of music it works against us. So this time I think we really achieved something. And then the writing itself, I think the songs have better riffs right from the beginning to the end with each song, they really flow well together all the riffs, and that has inspired vocal melody lines that I think work much better with the riffs here. I mean, when I listen to all these songs, it seems like they all fit perfect with the vocal melody lines. When I go back to 'Abigail' and listen, I was like 'Why did I use that vocal melody line there, I could've done something much better.' Looking at it now, at that time you always do your best, but that's what it feels like here. And the performances, this lineup has been together for quite a while now too. Andy said to me that, 'I haven't played solos like this since 'The Eye'...'

Metal-Rules.com: Are you going to do packaging like 'The Puppet Master', with an extended booklet and a DVD or anything at all?

King: 'Er no no, no DVD planned in it. The album itself is I think 54, 56 minutes long, something like that, but the very nice packaging and the booklet, I don't know if they're going to do a digipak over here, but I know they're going to do a digipak in Europe but no bonus material. And they're also going to do standard vinyl and picture disc vinyl in Europe. Ohhh…I just had that thing you asked before and then I lost it again now, I can't believe it! Yes I know, the story, it's the story! One thing that is really fresh that's very important this time around is it's written in the present time. The story happens as you listen to the album, almost like the TV series 24. I never tried before to actually put it right there, and it gets much closer to the listener when it's 'I see a black shape coming from the corner of the room' than saying 'And then I saw a black shape coming from.' It becomes much more powerful and closer to the listener. So that's the whole story is like that, I don't know if it would work but it seemed that in the end here that it worked out really well.'

KATAGORY V: NEW ALBUM COVER ARTWORK REVEALED

Utah-based progressive/power metallers KATAGORY V has posted the cover artwork for their fourth album, 'Hymns of Dissension', due later in the year.

Commented bassist and founder Dustin Mitchell: 'The new album is complete and the final mix has been sent off to the record labels, so now it is in their hands, and we all get to wait just a few more months for the final product. At this point, everyone in the band is happy with the end results, and with hearing the final mixes, in my opinion, it's going to be fairly colorful in musical styles, and maybe even a bit more retro-metal sounding compared to the previous album. We once again ran into a few bumps toward the end, and basically slid into home base with our deadlines. Once again that black cloud was looming over our band, and we had another computer in the studio freeze up and die, a different one, but the most crucial one needed, and it happened at the tail end of mixing. It was touch-and-go for a while; fortunately, we were able to resurrect it after a few days of trial and error, just in time to get the album done. And the problem? Dust and dirt, that's it! Once we did everything possible externally and were ready to give up and take it to a technician to retrieve the songs off the hard drive, we then blew the computer out with compressed air, which exploded out of that thing like a car spinning out on a gravel road. We gave it one more shot, booted it up, and the damn thing buzzed and hummed back to life. I'm not the most tech-oriented guy on the block, but I guess you have to give those things a bath sometimes? How quaint. It's a good thing we got it working, or the end results of getting the album done on time, or even at all, would have been extreme. In cases like this, it makes me miss the days of analog and reel-to-reel recording! So, to commemorate the completion of the album, we have decided to release the cover art for 'Hymns of Dissension' for your viewing pleasure. Mattias Noren did a wonderful job in capturing exactly what we were looking for in both mood and concept, and it most certainly fits the vibe of the album in our opinion. Absolutely fantastic.'

KATAGORY V is scheduled to release 'Hymns of Dissension' on October 16 through Nightmare Records (USA/Canada) and Burning Star Records (Europe/Asia). Each version will include two exclusive bonus tracks.

I feel really sad about it after all these years of dedication and the hard work I did for this band…although I know I don't belong there anymore.'

GWAR: NEW COPIES OF 'WAR PARTY LIVE 2004' DVD TO BE MADE AVAILABLE

GWAR fans have been demanding new copies of the out-of-print 'War Party Live 2004' DVD, which often fetches over $200 a copy on eBay. The band's manager, Sleazy P. Martini, has heard the fans' requests and recently posted this message to GWAR fan page BohabCentral.com:
'This new version of 'War Party Live' has better sound then the original due to the distortion that got added along with strange clicks in the audio track resulting from a defect in the manufacture of the original. It is from the same master Quicktime file that was used to make the original sans the clicks. Visually this new version is every bit as good as the original even though it is a DVD-R. This version will have a moving menu with eight chapters listed by the victims and monsters featured in those chapters. The DVD-R has nice direct print label and comes with a thin case with a color cover. Sorry, Euro fans, no PAL or Region 0 yet, but do my best to make sure 'Beyond Hell Live' will be a manufactured as a 0 region DVD. Dear foreign fans, please do not order via the PayPal button and expect to get shipped to Tanzania for $2.50.

'The new version of 'Blood Drive' will be coming out shortly — a couple of weeks, less then a month for sure. This new version will be worth waiting for because the DVD format will get all of the 480 lines of resolution from the DV master tape. All 'Blood Drive' boot legs and even the originals are only VHS which is 240 lines of resolution. Even the bootleg copies on DVD are taken from a 240-line VHS copy. Not a good start for a copy because when it gets compressed that hard twice the picture quality takes a big hit. It will be a DVD-R like 'War Party' for now and also NTSC, sorry no PAL yet. It will have a moving menu with chapter selections with a direct print label however it may not have the original cover. Probably not the same but similar, just so the original owners will know theirs' was a first edition. Not to worry, I'm sure we can find a cool still frame to base the cover on since that's how I did the original. I will be manufacturing them for GWAR as well so they will probably start to become available at the GWAR site as well soon. This is a new strategy to finance the finish and manufacture of 'Beyond Hell Live' and 'Dim Time' documentary and your purchases will help to get these projects manufactured as all-region DVDs.'

AT ALL COST ANNOUNCES EXTENSIVE SUMMER TOURING PLANS

Austin, Texas-based quintet AT ALL COST kicks off a massive U.S. trek with ONE DEAD THREE WOUNDED tonight in San Antonio. This six-week run marks the start of the group's touring cycle in support of their Century Media debut, 'Circle of Demons', which is set for a July 31 release. The album's vicious title track has just been posted on the band's newly redesigned MySpace page, which also features some older tracks and video clips.

Trey Ramirez (guitars, vocals) states: 'We are really looking forward to getting on the road in support 'Circle of Demons'. We will be taking our live show worldwide and couldn't be more excited. We have tours coming up with some great bands (ONE DEAD THREE WOUNDED, DEAD HEARTS, ISCARIOT, among others) and can't wait to pick up where our last record left off. Our current lineup is the strongest and most cohesive it's ever been in our five-year history. It's great that we now have the necessary platform to reach the masses, and we can't wait to see the reactions.'

AT ALL COST encompasses the definition of diversity, imposing no limitations to their songwriting while blending together a propulsive blend of thrash and hard rock-laden with captivating hooks. This is most evident on their dynamic new offering, 'Circle of Demons', which is definitely going to help them carve out their own special niche within the scene.

AT ALL COST quintet released its debut offering, 'It's Time To Decide', on Combat Records in 2005, and with producer Rory Phillips (THE RISE) they ultimately cultivated a sound all their own. The disc is composed of a rollercoaster of emotions and sounds as vocalist Andrew Collins assumes various identities, seamlessly shifting from a robotic persona, to a catchy crooner, to a hardcore prophet.

DROWNING POOL SONG LINKED TO ALLEGED AUSTRALIAN SCHOOL MASSACRE PLOT

Australia's The Sydney Morning Herald reports: Two teenagers who allegedly plotted a shooting massacre at Crookwell High School have lashed out at schools and police, saying they are victims of a misunderstanding over a former girlfriend of one of the boys.

The boys shared copies of a gruesome heavy metal song on the Internet, their families said, but they did not have the intention or the means to carry out a massacre.

The boys, 16, are alleged to have created a hit list of students and teachers to 'take out' and circulated it to some fellow students. Neither has been charged, and both have received mental health treatment.

'He put a song on a website, on his mate's website. And that's it,' the father of one boy told Channel Seven. The song is 'Bodies' by the band DROWNING POOL, which repeats the lyrics 'Let the bodies hit the floor' and 'Something's got to give'. The song was banned by some radio stations in the U.S. after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks because some deemed it too disturbing.

'People have got the wrong information,' said the father, whose son has been released from Goulburn Base Hospital, where he had been receiving psychiatric care since Thursday. 'So [my son] and myself have just been dragged through crap over nothing.'

VANITY BEACH RECORDING NEW SINGLE

For the past few weeks Finnish rockers VANITY BEACH have been holed up at Helsinki's Underground Studios with producer Johnny Lee Michaels (THE 69 EYES). Johnny was brought along to realize the band's vision of how VANITY BEACH is supposed to sound in 2007 and according to reports from the studio the co-operation is working 'real fuckin' great.' 'This is the best shit we've ever done, both musically and sonically — we've definitely stepped up our game!' says synth player Juno Forth.

VANITY BEACH's as-yet-untitled new single will be released through the band's own label Innovation Records in June. The band will also play a one-off show at the Dubrovnik club in Helsinki this Saturday (May 26).

VANITY BEACH was earlier this year tipped as one of the hottest new bands to watch in 2007 by the U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine. The group's track 'Take Me To Tokyo' was also featured on the compilation CD 'New Blood 2006' that came with the magazine, alongside such bands as AIDEN and BRING ME THE HORIZON.

VANITY BEACH recently filmed a video for the song 'Batcave' with director Jaakko Itaaho (of 'Mack Dawg' snowboard flicks fame). The clip features a cameo by Finnish cult icon/avant garde musician M.A. Numminen and is available for viewing at the band's official MySpace page.

CLAWFINGER TO RELEASE 'LIFE WILL KILL YOU' IN JULY

Swedish rap/metal combo CLAWFINGER will release its new album, 'Life Will Kill You', on July 27 via Nuclear Blast Records.

On the topic of the new album's lyrical direction, frontman Zak Tell recently said, 'Paedophilia, addiction, death, suicide bombers, self-esteem issues and misers are a few of the topics I've chosen to write about this time around. Not very uplifting stuff, I guess, but hey that's just me and it's not as if I actually plan it, it just happens, I promise! There are a few positive lyrics as well so it's not all gloom, doom and troubled thoughts. A majority of the tracks are though.

'Anyway, I guess there are a few different reasons as to why I chose to write about the stuff I do, the logical one being that the music we play is of a slightly aggressive nature and therefore inspires darker lyrics, although that's not entirely true as we also have softer and less serious songs and I sometimes also break free from the given formula. Most of the time I don't, though, out of fear of getting lost! The second reason is that it's simply my outlet for all the less pleasant things that go through my head. My everyday life is fairly normal and family-orientated so to get some sort of balance I use CLAWFINGER as my frustration ventilator or whatever you want to call it!

CLAWFINGER's last CD, entitled 'Hate Yourself with Style', was released in the U.S. in February 2006 via Nuclear Blast Records.

LINKIN PARK: NEW VIDEO INTERVIEW WITH CHESTER BENNINGTON AVAILABLE

A brand new four-minute video interview with LINKIN PARK singer Chester Bennington, conducted by Altitude TV, has been posted at YouTube.

LINKIN PARK didn't set out to make a concept record with the band's new album, 'Minutes to Midnight', but DJ Joseph Hahn told Launch that as the project came together over the last year and a half, it sort of turned into one. 'It speaks for the time that we live in,' he said. 'I think also on a more personal level, the time that we live in as individuals within the group. I think as far as the concept, it's that, you know, like, 'Minutes to Midnight' meaning there's a sense of urgency, you know. Something's gonna happen at midnight. It could be a very negative thing or a very positive thing, but the fact that you don't know makes it mysterious and exciting and kind of scary at the same time.'

'Minutes to Midnight' came out on Tuesday (May 15). A special deluxe edition of the album comes with an interactive DVD containing downloadable MP3s for all the songs, videos, a ringtone of the band's current single, 'What I've Done', and more.

Joseph Hahn appeared at the Suru store in Los Angeles on Monday (May 14) to unveil and sign copies of a collectible Japanese toy that he designed called a ningyo. Ningyos are traditional Japanese dolls and this particular brand only makes 500 per run, making Hahn's figure an immediate collector's item. The dolls will retail in the U.S. for $80.

According to GlobalRhythm.net, GUNS N' ROSES and THE BLACK CROWES are rumored to be among the support bands being considered for THE ROLLING STONES' gig in front of a 65,000-strong crowd at Slane Castle in Dublin, Ireland on August 18. The only support act currently confirmed to appear is TINARIWEN.

As previously reported, a studio mix of another new GUNS N' ROSES song, 'There Was a Time', was leaked on May 6, making it the fourth new GN'R track in two days to be released via the Internet ('The Blues', 'Chinese Democracy' and 'I.R.S.' were leaked two days earlier). 'There Was a Time' (also known as 'T.W.A.T.') was played live only twice — at the first New York City warm-up show on May 12, 2006 and Madrid, Spain on May 25, 2006 — and was mentioned as one of GN'R singer Axl Rose's favorites in an interview he gave to Rolling Stone magazine in January 2006. All tracks are rumored to be set for inclusion on GUNS N' ROSES' upcoming album 'Chinese Democracy'. (NOTE: Please **DO NOT** post links to these audio files in the comments section or you will be permanently banned)

Longtime GUNS N' ROSES associate Del James revealed in a February 2007 online posting that 'Chinese Democracy' was in the 'mixing' stage.

GUNS N' ROSES has announced that the band's 2007 world tour will begin on June 2 in Monterrey, Mexico. Launch dates in South Africa and Japan were bumped due to a wrist injury sustained by bassist Tommy Stinson.

AMORPHIS DISCUSSES UPCOMING ALBUM

Before the AMORPHIS concert on May 5 at A38 in Budapest, Hungary, Metalhead.ro had the opportunity to go in backstage and talk to Tomi Koivusaari (guitar) and Esa Holopainen (guitar) about the group's upcoming album. A few excerpts follow:

Metalhead.ro: I would like to know some things about your new album. I understand it will be released in August, is that so?

Tomi: Yes.

Metalhead.ro: What can you tell me about it? Will it bring anything new in the music of AMORPHIS?

Esa: I think it's a continuation of our previous album, 'Eclipse'. I's mostly the same style.

Metalhead.ro: Regarding the lyrics, is it true that it will be inspired by 'Kalevala'?

Tomi: In a way yes...A friend of Tomi, our vocalist, had written his own version of a story in 'Kalevala'. It mostly coincides with the original story.

Metalhead.ro: So, should we expect another story based on the Finnish folklore?

Esa: Yes , it too was inpired by that... From what I understood, it's about a jurney to the land of the dead.

Metalhead.ro: Have you ever thought about using other themes, apart from the inland folklore?

Tomi: We already did this, back when Pasi, our ex-vocalist, was in the band. He also wrote his own stuff...

Metalhead.ro: Do you considder repeating those things?

Tomi: I don't know... In this moment we thought it was natural to go back to our old themes.

Esa: It depends... Usually when we work on an album, we establish a theme, and build the album as a concept, with a lyrical and musical theme.

Tomi: Usually, we have the music written when we start with the lyrics.

Metalhead.ro: So, you first write the music, and then the lyrics?

Tomi: Yes!

Metalhead.ro: What can you tell me about the album's production.

Esa: It's the same as on our previous album. Marco Hietala from NIGHTWISH helped us again with certain vocal parts. We recorded with Tero Kinnunen at the Sonic Pump, and then the material was mixed by Mikko Karmila in the Finnvox studios. It wasn't very easy. We knew how we wanted the album to sound like... We wished it would be a continuation of 'Eclipse'. So, regarding the sound, I don't think there is anything new.

HANOI ROCKS: 'FASHION' VIDEO POSTED ONLINE

HANOI ROCKS' promotional video for the band's new single, 'Fashion', has been posted online at this location. The clip was directed by Kusti and Jaakko Manninen.

HANOI ROCKS is currently recording a new album at Helsinki's Seawolf Studios. The CD will be released in September 2007 in Finland by WolfGang Records, in the rest of Europe by U.K.-based Demolition Records and in Japan by Victor Entertainment/JVC Music.

The first single, 'Fashion' (cover artwork) is a strong proof of what the new HANOI ROCKS lineup is capable of. Guitarist Andy McCoy says: 'It was very easy to choose the first single. All the songs on the album are great single material. 'Fashion' just happened to be the first song that we had ready.'

The 'Fashion' single will be released on May 16 in Europe and June 21 in Japan. It'll also include HANOI ROCKS' version of the BILLY BREMNER hit 'Trouble Boys' (which will not be on the forthcoming album), the promo video for 'Fashion' plus a live video, 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams', from HANOI's gig at Nosturi in Helsinki this past March.

The founding members of HANOI ROCKS, Andy McCoy and singer Michael Monroe, have finally found the perfect musicians, who bring their characteristic touch to the inimitable HANOI ROCKS sound, and can meet HANOI ROCKS' sometimes tough demands.

Swedish rock stars, guitarist Conny Bloom and bassist Andy 'A.C.' Christell, have known each other since their childhood and they have been playing together in ROADRATS, ROLENE and ELECTRIC BOYS. HANOI ROCKS' trusted drummer Lacu has kept his precise beat steady from year 2001 when HANOI ROCKS did their first comeback.
