METALLICA: JAMES HETFIELD'S PROTECTIVE GLOVE BEING AUCTIONED

An autographed protective glove that was worn by METALLICA frontman James Hetfield after he suffered severe second- and third-degree burns to his left arm due to pyrotechnics during a 1992 concert is being auctioned via eBay. According to the seller — who claims to have worked for METALLICA in 1991 during the 'black album' USA tour and obtained the glove from METALLICA's former tour manager Tony Smith — this glove was worn by James to help heal and protect his burned left hand from the heat of stage lighting. The glove comes with a James Hetfield plectrum from the 1992 tour and a black album world tour 'after-show' pass, complete with two photocopied photographs of James wearing the medical glove. A certificate of authenticity from Tony Smith is also included.
