TRIVIUM FRONTMAN IS LOOKING FORWARD TO TOURING WITH KORN

TRIVIUM frontman Matt Heafy has commented on the band's participation in the upcoming Family Values tour alongside co-headliners KORN and EVANESCENCE, plus HELLYEAH, ATREYU and FLYLEAF.

Says Heafy: 'Over the past three years TRIVIUM has had the pleasure and honor of touring, supporting, as well as headlining many diverse tours and festivals along with so many different bands, so being invited by KORN to play this year's Family Values 2007 tour and get out in front of a diverse crowd and play is going to rock.

'This tour is a chance for us to finally be able to play for TRIVIUM fans that may have never had the ability to see us before as well as other people who may not normally get to go to metal shows.

'What a great opportunity for us to play with one of the bands some of us grew up with — KORN. We had the honor of supporting KORN last June at the Download Festival in the U.K.

'KORN was one of the first bands I was into as a kid. I bought the first family values DVD back in the day (I know I wasn't the only one!). For a lot of the younger fans out there these big summer tours open doors to different music genres. At the end of the day, if we can help get some new kids into metal then that is awesome.

'So anyways... it's going to be a fucking amazing tour for the fans and we will do our best to do what we do best — which is rock out live and we hope to make some new friends along the way.

'So to wrap it all up, I hope all our fans come out the Family Values tour to these shows and support TRIVIUM — do that and we will deliver a balls-out-metal-as-fuck set to tear the fucker up (we're gonna mix it up and play songs we've never played before.)

'You guys fucking rock. This tour is gonna be a big outdoor summer party — come out and rock out.'

FINNISH HEAVY METAL 'IDOL' PERFORMS STRATOVARIUS ON NATIONAL TV; VIDEO AVAILABLE

Video footage of 22-year-old Finnish heavy metal singer Ari Koivunen performing STRATOVARIOUS' 'Hunting High And Low' and LED ZEPPELIN's 'Rock and Roll' on the Finnish TV talent show 'Idols' last Thursday (March 22) has been posted online on YouTube:

'Hunting High And Low' (video)
'Rock and Roll' (video)

There are only three contestants left in the competition (including Ari), and two more shows to go.

In other news, Ari recently met his own idol — Timo Kotipelto of STRATOVARIUS — backstage at the Tavastia club in Helsinki. The two reportedly talked for a while and sang a part of a STRATOVARIUS song together.

Commented Ari: 'I have been listening to STRATOVARIUS since I was 10 years old. When I first started listening to them, I was a drummer and paid particular attention to their drums, the double-bass.'

Check out a photo of Ari and Kotipelto backstage at the Tavastia club at this location.

Ari is from Lahti, the Finnish town that has given birth to such metal acts as PROFANE OMEN, BEFORE THE DAWN and ENTWINE. One of his hobbies is 'Hevikaraoke' (Finnish 'heavy metal' karaoke); in 2005 he won the Finnish karaoke championships. Among his favorite bands are IRON MAIDEN, RAINBOW, DEEP PURPLE, DIO, PROFANE OMEN and HELLOWEEN.

The 'Idols' program is broadcast in Finland every Thursday on MTV3.

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE FRONTMAN: 'WE WANT TO BE MORE METAL ALL ACROSS THE BOARD'

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE frontman Matt Tuck told Revolver magazine that he is writing meaner, less syrupy melodies for the group's upcoming CD, which the band recently started recording at Sonic Ranch studios in Tornillo, Texas with producer Colin Richardson (MACHINE HEAD, FEAR FACTORY, NAPALM DEATH). He is also avoiding lyrics about relationships.

'We want to be more metal all across the board,' Tuck told Revolver. 'On their second album, a lot of bands try to please their record company by doing something more commercial. We didn't want to fall into that trap.'

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE has written 14 songs for the as-yet-untitled CD, which they hope to have out by the fall. Songtitles set to appear on the album include 'Scream, Aim and Fire', which is about going to war, and 'Waking the Demon', a cut that's definitely not suitable for KROQ or MTV. 'It's about getting revenge on a bully at school by slicing pieces off him,' Tuck told Revolver. 'There's some really sick shit in there, so I'm happy.'

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE will be the featured guests on the nationally syndicated radio show 'Rockline' airing Monday, April 30. The live show begins at 8:30 p.m. PT / 11:30 p.m. ET, and fans are encouraged to call in with questions during the program at (800) 344-ROCK (7625). To find a station near you, check out www.rocklineradio.com.

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's 'The Poison - Live At Brixton' DVD was released in the U.S. on December 19 via Trustkill. The disc, which was issued in Europe on Oct. 30, captures the band's sold-out show in front of over 4,000 people at London's legendary Brixton Academy on January 28, 2006 (filmed with over 15 cameras), along with over an hour of bonus material, including the band's videos so far, EPKs and documentaries edited to songs from both 'The Poison' and the 'Hand Of Blood' EP, plus a behind-the-scenes look at the band performing at the Download Festival and the Metal Hammer Awards in the U.K. last summer.

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's debut album, 'The Poison', has sold 220,000 copies in the U.S. since its February 2006 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

ARCH ENEMY: GUITARIST CHRISTOPHER AMOTT REJOINS THE FOLD

Swedish/German extreme metallers ARCH ENEMY have announced that original guitarist Christopher Amott is rejoining the band with immediate effect. The group, having finished an intense 18-month touring cycle all over the world promoting the 'Doomsday Machine' album and 'Live Apocalypse' DVD, is currently busy working on songs for their new studio album.

Christopher surprised many by departing ARCH ENEMY at the end of the 'Doomsday Machine' recording sessions in 2005, having been in the band for 10 years (starting with ARCH ENEMY at age 18). Christopher followed his urge to see the outside world and find what else is out there apart from music. Having done that, the time is right for him to return to the fold with a newly injected bite and focus and to resume his career.

Commenting on the re-grouping announcement he states: 'This is very exciting for me, returning to ARCH ENEMY as a full-time member! Right now we are working on our forthcoming album and I'm very pleased about the way it's turning out. The new songs are fast and furious with lots of melody! To all the people who sent me kind messages while I was out of the band, thank you for your support, it helped me a lot. After this (much needed) two-year break, I'm looking forward to getting back on the road. I hope to see you all later this year!'

ARCH ENEMY mastermind Michael Amott complements his younger brother Christopher perfectly in style and chemistry and together they have become one of the most infamous and ripping guitar teams in extreme metal.

Comments Michael: 'So, we are back with my brother Christopher on guitar — it's a huge rush to have him back playing in his signature style! He's jumped in at the end of the songwriting process for the new album and added some of his unique spice! I feel Christopher's playing has matured and is more precise and even faster than before! Guitar fans are going to freak on the stuff we are getting up to on the new album!'

The last two years have been the busiest and most successful touring campaign of ARCH ENEMY's entire career, so the many fans both old and especially new can now look forward to witnessing Christopher's return to the stages of the world.

In regards to Fredrik Åkesson, the Swedish guitar-wizard who has been touring with ARCH ENEMY for 18 months and who can be seen on the band's latest video clip for the song 'My Apocalypse', Michael states: 'I want to add that we are eternally grateful to Fredrik Åkesson, who did an outstanding job with ARCH ENEMY over the past 18 months while we dragged the 'Doomsday Machine' around the world a couple of times — YOU ARE FUCKING AWESOME!"

ARCH ENEMY has spent the last weeks locked in intense rehearsals at its homebase in Halmstad, Sweden, putting the final touches to the new material and integrating Christopher on the new songs for the forthcoming studio album. More news on this will follow in the next few days.

13. We Hold On

In a recent interview with Revolver magazine (web site), RUSH vocalist/bassist Geddy Lee stated about the upcoming CD, 'It's hard to describe. It's big, it's bold, and I think it's some of the best work we've done in years. I'm really pleased with the quality of the songs, and there's lots of playing on it.'

'Snakes & Arrows' promises to be the most organic-sounding RUSH effort in decades, having been influenced by their experience of making 'Feedback', the band's 2004 EP of classic-rock covers.

'Playing those songs that we loved and grew up on, I think it helped us remember how sometimes it's the simplicity or the directness of an arrangement that really makes a great song,' Lee told Revolver. 'And the other thing is, we played all together in the studio for a lot of the 'Feedback' stuff. That's something that a lot of producers had been pushing us to do for a while but which we hadn't done in years. It was great to turn off the click and just play — you know, not worry so much about being so, quote, metronomic — and that definitely carried over into this record.'

MACHINE HEAD FRONTMAN: 'IT IS TIME TO UNLEASH THE F**KING WOLVES'

MACHINE HEAD frontman Robert Flynn has issued the following update:

'Hey, hey, hey, HEY, fuckers!!!! What the hell is crack-a-latin' my beer-breathed brethren? I myself am doing fan-fucking-tastic, driving to Canada right now after playing an absolutely RAGING show in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Tour is going seriously incredible, pretty much every single night is sold out, and the crowds are fucking sick. I'd love to sit here and name all the great shows but there are really just too many to name. Off the top of my head though, trophies go to Santa Cruz, Fargo (holy shit!), Fresno, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Milwaukee (oh my GOD!!??) and Edmonton-Canada to name a few... in fact, surprisingly, the only really boring shows were Anaheim and L.A.

'Been really hitting our stride as a band lately (finally) and have gotten to know the LAMB OF GOD dudes really well. Solid, solid dudes, man, really good guys, and considering the success they're having here in America, they're doing a damn good job of keeping their heads on their shoulders. As fans of the band, we've been watching them kill it night after night, and I gotta say, they are pretty much everything that's right with metal. The TRIVIUM dudes have been hanging out a lot too, and they are a great bunch of guys, really cool, funny... I think Corey [Beaulieu] has a man-crush on Phil [Demmel], but man, Corey and Matt [Heafy] fucking SHRED on guitar, wow!!!! Seriously... REALLY fuckin' good players. GOJIRA... are simply crushing!! They are just such a good fucking band. And live, they somehow manage to get heavier??!!! I listen to them just about every night and they never cease to impress me; there's at least one point every night during their set where I just go 'Fuck!?... that's sick!?' We couldn't ask to be on a better tour right now.
'Gotta couple of new developments going on in the camp. We have decided that we will not be releasing the video for 'Now I Lay Thee Down' as the first video off of 'The Blackening', the main reasoning being that we want to come out with a harder track for the first video. We came out with 'Davidian' off 'Burn My Eyes', we came with 'Ten Ton Hammer' off 'The More Things Change', we came with 'Imperium' off 'Through the Ashes of Empires'... and we feel we need to come out swinging with 'The Blackening'. It felt weird coming with a more melodic track as the first video, so us and Roadrunner spoke and thankfully they agreed, so we will be shooting another video. We would LOVE to shoot a proper video for the opening track 'Clenching the Fists of Dissent, but we are completely conundrummed about how to shorten our 10-minute-and-34-second megalithic opener down to 5 minutes without having to remove entire sections at a time, or worse, edit them down to 20 second pieces (but hey, any suggestions are welcome). So, our most likely candidate is 'Aesthetics of Hate', and we may shoot it as early as this week. It's unfortunate that we won't have a video to coincide with the release, especially since in Europe the video market is much stronger than in America, but if that's the only hiccup we encounter for this album's release, then we're WAY ahead of the 'hiccups' we had with the last one.

'Super stoked to be going out on the HEAVEN AND HELL tour in America; for those of you living under a rock, that's BLACK SABBATH with the mighty Ronnie James Dio on vocals, who recorded some of the best songs in all of metal. MEGADETH is also on the bill which is fuckin' killer, those two bands are the reason there's a MACHINE HEAD, and we are honored to be a part of it. This is gonna be all about paying homage to The Masters.

'To the best of our knowledge, the 'Burn My Eyes' re-release that was supposed to have coincided with the 25th anniversary of Roadrunner Records back in 2005 and was then re-scheduled to be released in October 2006, has been back-burnered. And as far as we're concerned, that's a good thing. This is the year of 'The Blackening', and the time frame to re-release it has passed, not to mention that the idea of re-releasing a 13-year old album that we already celebrated with two anniversary shows (three years ago) makes zero sense to us. We were never excited about reissuing it to begin with, as it was just gonna have a bunch of b-sides, and wouldn't have been nearly as cool some of the other re-issues that had DVDs and all sorts of cool shit... so, as much as some of you may be bummed, know that it's better this way.

'And speaking of which, we have less than two weeks 'til 'The Blackening' is released and we're all freaking out about it!! Super jacked-up, nervous, confident, insecure, but most of all optimistic-as-fuck about what the future holds. We wrote a record that went against everything we should be doing after the success of 'Through the Ashes of Empires'. We probably should have written songs more toned down that would give media outlets a chance to play them; we probably should have written a record that didn't have such edgy subject matter, or as many swear words; we probably should have written a record that fit a little easier into established radio/video formats... but you know what? Fuck that! What we did was write a record that is straight from the heart. We made a record that, as selfish as this sounds, is the record we wanted to hear, but weren't hearing anywhere else. We created a 61-minute piece of art that is supposed to be listened to as a whole, not a single. And it ain't the easiest way we could have done it, sure, but it's the only way we know how TO do it. Kudos and cheers go to the surprising amount of college and major-radio stations (with specialty metal shows) that have had the balls to play the un-edited versions of these songs. Fuck yeah!

'But it can't stop there, now is where you, the HEAD-cases of the world, come in. I said the same thing for our last album, and I'm gonna say it again. We have put forth a record that defies convention, media outlets don't even know where to begin with us, and in America in particular, most of these magazines are either scared of the lyrics, or are still too spineless to actually GET BEHIND the band for a change...

'...but that beast must be fed.

'We don't get this platform because our record company — or anyone for that matter — thinks it's a good idea to write 10-minute songs criticizing war in the midst of one most controversial, or write 9-minute songs that piss off a multitude of Christian organizations, or write songs that reference suicide, or words like 'faggot' and 'nigga.' No, the only reason we get this platform is because you fuckers have stood by us with an unwavering conviction, because you fuckers have carried us on your goddamn shoulders, and because you fuckers have supported this band through thick and fucking thin. And we need you to do it again.

'On Friday, March 23rd, 'The Blackening' will be released in Germany... on Monday, March 26th, it will be released everywhere else in the world, and on Tuesday, March 27th, it will be released here in North America. If you've already taken the album on a 'test drive' and liked what you heard, do everybody involved a solid and go buy the CD! Pick it up at your local record shop, order it online, buy it off iTunes and download it to your iPod, whatever. Add banners to your message board sigs, spread the e-card around... spread the word!!! If you've read any of the glowing reviews that have been pouring in, you know this record is for real... believe the hype. Now we've talked before about how (for reasons that remain beyond our comprehension) the music industry (still) puts way too much stock in first-week sales, but it is what it is, so if you believe at all in the notion of supporting the artists you love, then god dammit, right here, and right now, stand by your band!!! If you aren't feeling 'The Blackening', fair enough brother (or sister), peace be with you, but if you ARE???!!! Pound motherfuckers into oblivion with this shit, buy it the day it comes out, play it for everybody you know, over and over and over again, encourage every friend, acquaintance, and stranger you only kinda know (or don't) to go pick this bad boy up. Seriously... it's time to unleash the wolves...

METALLICA: JAMES HETFIELD'S PROTECTIVE GLOVE BEING AUCTIONED

An autographed protective glove that was worn by METALLICA frontman James Hetfield after he suffered severe second- and third-degree burns to his left arm due to pyrotechnics during a 1992 concert is being auctioned via eBay. According to the seller — who claims to have worked for METALLICA in 1991 during the 'black album' USA tour and obtained the glove from METALLICA's former tour manager Tony Smith — this glove was worn by James to help heal and protect his burned left hand from the heat of stage lighting. The glove comes with a James Hetfield plectrum from the 1992 tour and a black album world tour 'after-show' pass, complete with two photocopied photographs of James wearing the medical glove. A certificate of authenticity from Tony Smith is also included.

SAMMY HAGAR: 'I TOTALLY ENCOURAGE' VAN HALEN REUNION TOUR WITH DAVID LEE ROTH

According to Billboard.com, Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony said last night (Monday, March 12) backstage at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in New York City that there were no hard feelings they were not included on VAN HALEN's planned summer tour with David Lee Roth, which is now in shambles. 'I totally encourage the thing with Dave,' Hagar said. 'If VAN HALEN has any move they should do for the fans right now, it's to do a reunion with Dave.' Added Anthony of the absent Roth, 'I was waiting for him to come busting through at some point during the speech.'

'If we all grew up, including me, maybe all of us could do it together,' Hagar said of future VAN HALEN touring. 'I'm down with that.' He added, 'I planned on taking this year off and just hanging with my family. I haven't done that for a long time. [But] I will tour from my birthday in October through next year.'

VELVET REVOLVER performed in place of VAN HALEN and without Roth. Frontman Scott Weiland explained the ensuing controversy: 'We were asked to perform. Kinda what happened was, he wanted to sing the song 'Jump'. We felt from an artistic standpoint, and I'm being totally honest with you, that it wasn't a song we felt comfortable with. We don't have keyboards. To bring a keyboard on stage wouldn't work for us. We said we'd do 'Jamie's Cryin'' or 'You Really Got Me', and he was adamant that wasn't okay.'

KNUT: NEW GUITARISTS ANNOUNCED

Switzerland-based hardcore/metal band KNUT (pronounced 'kahNOOOOT') has added two guitarists following the departure of Jeremy Tavernier late last year: Tim, and more recently, an axeman by the name of Christian.

Commented the band: 'We found a hard-working dude willing to take the chance. His name is Christian, he's an old friend of Tim's and he seems to be working out fine. He's got his own gear, he's got a sound and can play fast. Plus he's alarmingly mellow and will be a father for a second time this summer. So it looks like we're a functioning band again, a goddamn five-piece ready to shred — live and hopefully on record before Bush gets kicked out of office...'

KNUT's 10-year anniversary remix album, 'Alter', was released last year via Hydra Head Records.

NAPALM DEATH FRONTMAN SAYS RELIGION DOESN'T WORK

Andreas Aubert of Imhotep recently conducted an interview with NAPALM DEATH frontman Mark 'Barney' Greenway. A few excerpts from the chat follow:

On religion:

'Everyone may come to a realization that the world is fundamentally run on religious principles established by religion many years ago, even though we may not think it. It very much revolves around the 'righteous' who holds the cards. I think that with the way things are going, eventually people will have to come to a self-realization — it is just not working. It does not encourage peace, it encourages division and moral judgements. It is clearly not working. We have to look for a different way forward, that is the main thing. It goes for any religion — old or new. It doesn't work.'

'The human being is an incredible machinery, and we are pushed into a corner not to believe in ourself. We have to believe in a third party to justify our existence. We are perfectly capable of making our own choices.'

'It is an age-old issue. The wars over the Middle East are a focal point, of course, but there are people who can't express themselves in many places because of religion. People have to continually justify their existence, i.e same sex couples doing whatever they wish to do, which is their right as human beings, but that is somehow still under control. Why can't human beings just do as human beings do?'

On whether hatred and frustration are driving forces for NAPALM's music:

'I don't really hate anyone. If you are driven by that you are just playing everybody else's game. Perhaps frustration — it is hard sometimes, everybody gets angry — but you have to think about how you channel that anger.'

'There is often something said that is kind of attached to that — that people go to shows to let out their frustrations. But it is said like they are coming to let out their frustrations on other people, but that is not the point. The point is to enjoy yourself among other people, not to create more aggression. . . Kids come to shows… I mean, do what you like, I do not want to be anybody's police force, dance hard, do whatever. But why go out to deliberately assault other people? In the moshpit there might be some accidents, but there is a difference between that and deliberately targeting other people.'

'I do not hate, really. There are many things in the world which I do not understand and I do not see the point. But do I really hate anyone? I do not think I do, because hate is a very negative thing. It might be ok for some people, but I do not feel that anymore. There are certain people I look at in positions of power and I think what the hell are they doing, how are they allowed to do what they do, but hate is something else'

On the reactions they have gotten throughout the years from people who do not listen to this kind of music:

'Some people, of course, do not understand it at all, some people hate it, and of course some people who do not agree with us have tried to get to us at certain times. We had a situation in Oslo actually, many years ago when the whole [black metal] inner circle stuff was going on. They tried to attack us, but I am not scared of them. I might sound a little naive, but I am not scared of anyone. They can do what they want to me, of course they can probably knock me down, but it does not make me feel intimidated or scared. . . The whole thing was so insignificant to me. People try to scare us. One of the important points in establishing power is to put fear into someone else, but I am not afraid. I would not say the things that I do if I was afraid of some people's reactions. . . If someone attacks me I will defend myself, don't get me wrong, but I would never go out to attack someone. I have no interest in that. There is enough violence, I do not want to create more of it.'

On whether spirituality and religion is the same thing:

'Spirituality is something in which I have no interest. Because spirituality is another way or means of diverting you into ways where again you are taking the trust away from yourself, and putting it into another entity, whatever that might be. Same thing again, I do not have a problem with people following religion or doing what they want to do, but in terms of the general human race and civilization — why should it govern the way the world turns? Let's face it — most people could give a shit. They say they do, but they don't. A small percentage of people live their life according to the scripture or whatever that may be, but it is very minimal. Whichever way you slice it, it is taking power away from human beings. When you do not trust in yourself you tend to have less of an affinity with other people around you. Religion is about superiority, it is about establishing a group's superiority in moral terms over another group. This brings immediate problems.'

GENE SIMMONS GIVES HIP-HOP ADVICE

KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons recently made the following statement to AllHipHop.com about where he thinks rap needs to go:

'Rap better figure out something new, because the next group of guys who say 'Wassup' is not gonna be original enough. Very soon that clock will stop ticking, and it's gonna have to move to that next step, or something else will come and push it out of the way as well. Also I'd like to hear a rapper who can really speak English exceedingly well, somebody who can pronounce every single word, doesn't make up his own language and just is a breath of fresh air. Someone who comes in with a suit and tie and really comes off as well dressed [and] well educated just to be different.'

A&E has set a March 25 premiere date for the second season of Gene Simmons' reality-TV show 'Gene Simmons Family Jewels'. The cable channel began production last fall on 20 one-hour episodes.

STRYPER FRONTMAN'S WIFE DIAGNOSED WITH OVARIAN CANCER

STRYPER frontman Michael Sweet has posted the following message on his web site:

'I want to first apologize for not updating everyone sooner on Kyle's [Michael's wife] condition. I know how many of you have been praying and we will always be eternally grateful for your thoughts and prayers. It has been an extremely difficult past three weeks and we are trusting The Lord to see us through.

'Kyle's surgery was over five hours (it should have been 2-3 hours) and she needed a blood transfusion due to how much she lost during surgery. All visible signs of the mass were removed and they performed a complete hysterectomy. There was a small polyp on one of her lungs nearest the mass. We're still not certain what that is. However, we received news on 2/27/07 that Kyle has ovarian cancer. We'll be meeting with the oncologist on 3/8/07 to find out more details but so far what we've been told is it is an aggressive type which responds well to chemotherapy. Kyle most likely will start chemo sometime the week of 3/12/07. Once we receive more details I will update everyone here.

'I want to thank all of you for your prayers and to be honest we've seen many answered already. The door was opened for Kyle to be admitted into Brigham and Women's immediately and to be scheduled for surgery immediately. That was an answer to prayer. Due to the blood transfusion and needing help to breathe for hours after the surgery, The Lord answered prayers by saving my wife on 2/14/07. I'm so very grateful for all of you and it has been such a blessing to Kyle to see all of your posts and prayers — it has touched both of us to the core.

'Please continue to pray for healing, strength, peace and encouragement and a complete recovery and complete remission. We will be facing many more trials over the next four months and possibly even longer. Please pray for Mikey and Ellena too. It's been very, very hard on them. Also pray for provisions as well. We're not really sure how the next four months will unfold or what to expect but we do know that we love The Lord more than ever and we love each other more than we ever knew.

'I will be writing a new newsletter to explain my heart in depth, the times ahead, the future of STRYPER and the record as well. I'll be writing it sometime over the next few days and Jeff will be posting it here on www.michaelsweet.com soon after.

'We love all of you and your prayers and support mean so much — thank you for continuing to pray for Kyle and our family.'

KITTIE: 'FUNERAL FOR YESTERDAY' VIDEO AVAILABLE FOR STREAMING

KITTIE's video for the track 'Funeral for Yesterday' is available for streaming at UVTV.info. The clip was shot on February 5 on Long Island, New York. 'Besides it being probably one of the coldest days [we] can remember in years and the location not really having heat at all, it was a lot of fun,' the band previously wrote on its MySpace page. 'The location was perfect for the mood of the song and [we] think you all will enjoy the video.'

KITTIE's new album, 'Funeral for Yesterday' — which was released via KITTIE's record label, X of Infamy — sold just under 9,000 copies in its first week of release to debut at position No. 101 on The Billboard 200 chart. A trailer for the DVD that is available as a companion disc with 'Funeral for Yesterday' has been posted online at YouTube.com.

KITTIE's new CD was recorded at Retromedia Studio in Red Bank, New Jersey with producer Jack Ponti, who has previously worked with BON JOVI, SKID ROW, and ALICE COOPER. The band mixed the effort with producer Kevin Shirley (IRON MAIDEN, DREAM THEATER).

FREEDOM CALL: 'DIMENSIONS' COVER ART REVEALED

German melodic metallers FREEDOM CALL have posted the cover artwork for their new album, 'Dimensions', at this location.

Due in Europe on April 23 (except Germany, where it will arrive on April 20) via SPV Records, 'Dimensions' is a 'successful liaison of the group's basic strengths and new, contemporary influences,' according to a press release. Or, as drummer Daniel Zimmermann puts it, 'Even if the two predecessors, 'Eternity' and 'The Circle Of Life', took very different directions, both albums had a number of strong moments. 'Dimensions' combines the most successful elements from both albums, in other words: we included our penchant for fast and very melodic numbers from 'Eternity' with the more contemporary, bombastic components of 'The Circle Of Life'.'

Four of the 11 songs on 'Dimensions' were penned by the band's latest additions, Lars Rettkowitz (guitar) and Armin Donderer (bass); the other seven were written and composed, as usual, by Chris Bay and Daniel Zimmermann.

Most of 'Dimensions' was recorded at the FC studios in Nuremberg. The drum parts were cut at the Area 51 in Celle by Daniel Zimmermann with the help of Tommy Newton (HELLOWEEN, KAMELOT, VICTORY), who also mixed and mastered 'Dimensions'. The cover artwork was designed by Paul Raymond Gregory (SAXON, MOLLY HATCHET, BLIND GUARDIAN).

'Dimensions' track listing:

01. Demons Dance
02. Innocent World
03. United Alliance
04. Mr. Evil
05. Queen Of My World
06. Light Up The Sky
07. Words Of Endeavour
08. Blackened Sun
09. Dimensions
10. My Dying Paradise
11. Magic Moments
12. Far Away

FREEDOM CALL will support DRAGONFORCE on a short U.K. tour in April.
